PROFESSIONAL LEARNING

Learn more about our approach to professional learning by viewing the video below:

IFfM provides professional learning with schools to develop future-focused mentoring approaches and capacity building in associated mentoring skills that impact:

  • Personal professional development as teachers build their confidence and capacity to meet professional challenges
  • Relational professional development as teachers engage in mentoring partnerships for mutual benefit
  • Cultural professional development through a focus on mutual respect, valuing and a community build upon collaborative expertise

Unique to professional learning through IFfM is that we work with both mentors and mentees in our professional learning. Only then are both partners equipped to fully engage in meaningful and mutually beneficial mentoring conversations. Further, we are empowering early career teachers with the skills to be the next mentors in schools. This is time and cost-efficient.

We can deliver our professional learning online and face-to-face as part of the IFfM project.

WORKSHOP 1

The Future-focused mentoring approach

In this full-day, interactive workshop we will explore the ways in which we can maximise the power of mentoring through an understanding of our own potential, and that of our mentoring partners. We learn how to use the dispositions and language of intellectual virtues to enrich and deepen mentoring conversations. Leave the session feeling empowered to engage in meaningful, worthwhile, and authentic mentoring conversations!

WORKSHOP 2

Future-focused teacher observation and feedback

Future-focused teacher observation and feedback
In this full-day,  activity-based workshop we take the foundations of future-focused mentoring and combine them with the power of WISE feedback! Learn how to observe and give and receive feedback with your mentoring partner in ways that extend professional capabilities and nurture professional belonging and self-efficacy. Come away feeling excited about classroom observations!

WORKSHOP 3

Future-focused accountability through mentoring

Future-focused accountability through mentoring
This full-day workshop explores current research and the practical application of an authentic address of the Teacher Standards during mentoring conversations. Driven by the concept of rich accountability, we work through strategies that enable teachers to think critically about their practice in relation to the APSTs, their school pedagogical priorities, and their professional values within a future-focused and genuine mentoring conversation.
We also work with schools to develop research-based projects that include the delivery of
IFfM professional learning and the development of school mentoring programs.
